For the 16th consecutive year, the Summer Evenings of the General Council have made the entire department come alive to the rhythm of various concerts and shows.
From June 11 to September 25, 2011, the Summer Evenings offered 450 free performances, organized in 155 towns.
The program included singing, dancing, classical, traditional and contemporary music, jazz, music hall, theater, and storytelling, which spread across towns from the valleys to the Mediterranean shores.
For these final summer evenings, don’t miss:
*Xavier Borriglione, “Que braià mi meti?”, on September 2 in BLAUSASC, and on September 25 in Colomars, at 9 PM.*
In this humorous and humanistic one-man show from the high country of Nice, Xavier Borriglione, an actor and musician, introduces us to the life of Toinou, an old shepherd and fife player from Vésubie, who leads a simple and peaceful life, sitting at the edge of the world on his farm in Gaudissart.
One day, by chance, his path crosses that of Kamel, a young delinquent from the city.
From this unlikely and offbeat encounter, great moments of sharing arise, which Toinou shares with you through a tale that is by turns hilarious, delirious, or moving.
*Lu rauba capeu, on September 17 in Châteauneuf d’Entraunes, at 9 PM.*
“Soun lu Capeu que s’en tournon…” yes indeed! The Rauba Capeu are returning once more, as their main activity is to wander through the villages and valleys of the former County of Nice in every direction.
Formed by the meeting of the Casagrande brothers, Sylvain and Renaud, Xavier Borriglione, and Jean Cléricy, Lu Rauba Capeu offers a sound that is as new as it is authentic.
Driven by an energetic drumbeat with strong bass, the accordion and voices express their full dancing dynamic.
The fife contributes light rhythmic and melodic tones in the high notes, completing the ensemble. The repertoire is composed of traditional airs from the County of Nice and surrounding regions, as well as compositions, all part of a regional and original cultural dynamic.
*Ensemble baroque de Nice, on September 2 in Puget-Theniers, on September 3 in Théoule-sur-mer, at 9 PM, on September 23 at the Cannet, at 8:15 PM, on September 24 in Tourrettes sur loup, at 8:30 PM.*
The Ensemble Baroque de Nice, composed of a dozen musicians all playing ancient instruments, has quickly established itself since its creation 25 years ago, as one of the main French groups specializing in baroque music.
Directed and staged by Gilbert Bezzina, a pioneer in the revival of baroque violin, the Ensemble is committed to restoring a musicality based on thorough research and in-depth knowledge of the interpretation treatises of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Since their inception in 1996, the Summer Evenings of the Alpes-Maritimes General Council have welcomed 1,500,000 spectators, for more than 4,000 performances.
Bolstered by their success, these nighttime shows invite you to join them next year for new emotions!
