The Sun of Two Shores shines in the gardens of Cimiez.

Each year, the Jardin des Arènes de Cimiez hosts “Under the Sun of the Two Shores,” an event organized by the City of Nice and the concerned associations in honor of the Repatriated, Harkis, and their friends. For this fourth edition, the meeting is set for this Sunday, June 2nd, from 10 AM to 11 PM.

Among the highlights of this friendly, festive, and also solemn event: the repatriates’ mass with Gospel songs, the concert by Jean Pax Mefret, excerpts from the play “La famille Hernandez,” and conferences in the Matisse auditorium.

Orchestras, oriental dancers, magicians, and catering according to the Pieds Noirs traditions will spice up the celebration.

Program:

10 AM: Repatriates’ mass with the NICE GOSPEL GROUP.

12 PM: Music by the Firefighters performing La Marseillaise, Nissa la Bella, and the Chant des Africains.

12:30 PM: Concert by JUANITA BANANA. 1960s Latino music group.

2:15 PM: Excerpts from the 3-act play “La Famille Hernandez.”

4:10 PM: Concert by QUARTET IDEAL New Orleans, Swing, Latino, and French songs…

5 PM: Oriental dance show.

5:30 PM: Concert by KUSTOM BAND Rock’n’roll.

9:15 PM: EVENT CONCERT BY JEAN-PAX MEFRET AND HIS MUSICIANS

Jean-Pax Méfret was a grand reporter and then editor-in-chief at Figaro Magazine, where he directed major issues. He is also known for being the first to denounce in songs the Soviet gulag, the Berlin Wall, and the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge. The first to glorify the allied armies that in June 1944 liberated France from Nazi occupation. The first to sing about the ordeal of the Harkis.
