The “tambourinaires” of Cimiez provided a delightful moment of conviviality and relaxation.

“The Tambourinaires of Cimiez” are musicians unlike any others within the Gerontology Center of the Nice Cimiez University Hospital. We all know musicians, but what is unusual in this case is that they are over 80 years old and have conditions associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

Once again, they celebrated the seasons, an event initiated in 2002 following a move to introduce art and culture to the residents.

Their performance was orchestrated by their coordinator, Karine Lequiniou: “A fun workshop that gives them complete satisfaction since none of them miss a session and they are ready to play. They keep asking for more, which is my greatest satisfaction.” It is a wonderful workshop that has an impact on social reintegration, self-image, and identity.

The Tambourinaires have already performed during the winter festival’s prime time with Sรฉbastien Bruno, a musician nurse, and will announce the second part presented by singer Isabelle Bigotti.

A beautiful achievement for this humanistic concept, knowing that it is challenging for these elderly individuals to retain the “present.”
