The flower is very symbolic for the city of Nice. This Saturday, September 17, the Goût de Nice celebrates the occasion with an event honoring the flower. Created in 2017, the Goût de Nice highlights the products and expertise of our local farmers and producers.
The flower is an inseparable symbol of the Côte d’Azur since the 18th century, marking the beginning of local horticulture. Going back to the first flower battle in 1876 or the birth of the flower market on Cours Saleya in 1897, the flower is a true emblem for Nice. In addition to being an ornamental crop, flowers are also edible. Crystalized violet petals, rose jam, nasturtiums, and carnation infusions, to name a few. You will be able to taste all these varied products this weekend.
From 11 AM to 1 PM, and then from 3 PM to 6 PM, here are the activities for Saturday:
– Tasting of edible flowers and crystallized flowers
– Tasting of metropolitan local products around the theme of the flower
– Musical entertainment
– Bouquet creation workshop, from 4 PM to 6 PM, with Jean-Patrice Mège, famous florist of Cours Saleya
