For once, there is good news, communicated by the Regional Directorate of Public Finances
The reduction of the income tax scale was voted into the finance law for 2020, benefiting nearly 17 million tax households. Thanks to the reform of the withholding tax, this reduction is applicable as early as January, whereas it would only have been effective in 2021 with the old system.
At the same time, starting in 2020, 80% of the French will permanently stop paying the residence tax on their primary residence. In total, 8.8 million tax households benefit from both a reduction in their income tax and the abolition of the residence tax, for a total average gain of 982 euros.
In the Alpes-Maritimes department, 161,000 tax households benefit from both the abolition of the residence tax in 2020 and the reduction of income tax, with an average tax reduction of 1,035 euros.
