The 26th Telethon will take place this year on December 7th and 8th in the four ambassador cities of this event. In Nice, Dreux (Eure-et-Loir), Saint-Paul (Rรฉunion Island), and Moissac (Tarn and Garonne), the Telethon will be broadcast continuously on the 6 channels of the France Tรฉlรฉvisions group. This year’s patron is Franck Dubosc.

Everyone talks about it, but do you know what the Telethon is and when it appeared in France?

telethon-2.jpgThe Telethon, a combination of the words television and marathon, is a 30-hour televised program aimed at raising funds for people with disabilities.
This charity-driven concept has existed in the United States since the 1950s. At the time, a 22-hour show managed to raise about thirty million euros.

The Telethon was created in France by the French Association against Myopathies (AFM) in 1987, in partnership with public television. The AFM has been fighting for more than 50 years, and today this association still organizes the event. Its mission is to cure neuromuscular diseases (illnesses that affect muscle function and thus mobility).
Its core actions are to cure, help, and communicate.

This unique event primarily aims to change the lives of patients. The donations collected help advance research on these rare diseases.
The Telethon also works for the recognition of people with disabilities by allowing them to express their daily challenges.

As every year, young talents will participate in the Telethon by offering various activities.
