The photography and image theater honors the photographer August Sander. The exhibition Portraits, Landscapes, Architectures gathers nearly 120 photos, most of them from the period. These shots reflect the 1920s-1930s during which the photographer lived.
โItโs a really successful exhibition, no doubt about it!โ says Marina, a photography enthusiast admiring August Sander’s work. โYou dive into the 20s-30s with these photos, they are so authentic, itโs truly beautiful,โ she adds. Five galleries filled with the most beautiful shots of the famous photographer. โThe portraits really reflect the era in which they were made. The emotion that comes through in these photos, the charisma of the people immortalized comes out from these shots, thatโs the true talent of the photographer!โ exclaims Jean, who came to see the exhibition out of curiosity. โI heard about it from friends who really liked it, so I thought, why not. And I donโt regret coming,โ he explains.
Landscapes and architectures are also exhibited
Even though August Sander is known for his portraits, he distinguished himself with photographs of landscapes and architectures. It is the first time all these works are presented in the region, and the theater’s reception celebrates the success of the exhibition. โThere are quite a few visitors. The exhibition only started on Saturday but the visitors are regular!โ confides the reception manager. โThe prints are mostly from the period, which is what gives the exhibition its authenticity,โ says Marina, admiring the photograph of the Cologne Cathedral. The exhibition is held at the Charles Nรจgre Photography and Image Theater until May 15, 2011.
