The mayor of Nice presented the new infrastructures intended to replace the TNN, whose construction began in January.

With the start of the destruction of the TNN amidst controversy, live performance in the capital of the French Riviera is set to evolve and transform. Today, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, visited and presented the infrastructures soon to be implemented to replace the major Niçoise theater.

“In 2022, live performances will be organized around 3 sites spread across the city of Nice,” stated Christian Estrosi on Twitter. Indeed, three new theaters will host the people of Nice this year.

The largest of these three will be only temporary and will be named “La Cuisine.” Available to the Théâtre de Nice from April 25, it covers an area of 1,650 m² and has a capacity of 600 people. La Cuisine, which for several years housed the Théâtre de Carouge, will host its first performance for the Niçois on May 20 with “Bérénice” by Jean Racine starring Carole Bouquet.

The second theater is already well known to the city’s residents as it is the Théâtre des Franciscains. However, it will undergo a transformation aimed at offering a “more contemporary” theater. Located in the old town at Place Saint François, it has a modular room with a capacity of 300 seats. It will be made available to the Théâtre de Nice on March 15 for a first performance on April 22.

Finally, the last of these venues will be initiated within the ICONIC project, developed very close to the station. It will thus be part of a real estate complex of 18,300 m². Approximately 500 people will be able to access it to attend performances. The construction should be completed by the end of the first half of the year.
