The threshold of 2 million tests in one week crossed again

Latest News

According to figures published on Thursday by the Ministry of Health, the number of tests has “again” surpassed the two million mark in one week, illustrating the acceleration of the seventh wave of the Covid epidemic.

With more than 2.1 million PCR and antigen tests validated between June 20 and 26, compared to more than 1.6 million the previous week. The Statistics Directorate (Drees) indicated in a statement that “the increase in the number of tests is intensifying.”

Having dropped to just over a million at the end of May, the number of tests has been steadily rising since then, becoming more pronounced each week. While the number of tests is increasing “across all age groups,” it is significantly more pronounced among those under 16 years old (+49%).
