Review of the 2023-2024 season of the Eagles of Nice, full of twists and turns.
We look back on the eventful 2023-2024 season of the Eagles of Nice. The team from Nice experienced significant challenges during this season but still managed to reach the top of the Ligue Magnus championship. Supporters are delighted with this end of the period, which last occurred in the 2018-2019 season.
At the start of the 2023-2024 Ligue Magnus, the Eagles began the season with difficulty, suffering two consecutive defeats, one of which was a 5-0 loss against Grenoble. Subsequently, they followed up with four victories to the great delight of their supporters. However, in other encounters, Nice struggled with six defeats throughout October. The Eagles then alternated between good and less good performances for the rest of the season.
Gamble for the Eagles of Nice
Enduring defeat after defeat, at the end of the season, the players from Nice needed to climb up the rankings to avoid the Play-Out. Not letting themselves be discouraged, the red and black team bounced back. They still managed to climb to the 8th spot in the Ligue Magnus standings. On March 1, 2024, everything was at stake for the Eagles, with the last match of the 44th Ligue Magnus day, Nice faced Gap and won the match (3-0).
Consequently, Nice secured a valuable spot in the Ligue Magnus play-offs. However, not everything went as planned as the Eagles of Nice ultimately stopped in the quarter-finals during this play-off phase. Facing the championship favorites, the Rouen Dragons, Nice won only one out of four matches against their opponents, leaving no chance for our Eagles to continue in the championship.
