On Thursday, January 31, 2013, the agreement for the deposit of the Tissier-Grandpierre Collection will be signed at the Palais Lascaris, between the City of Nice, represented by its mayor Christian Estrosi, and the Institut de France, represented by Chancellor Gabriel de Broglie.
A collection of 66 ancient musical instruments will thus be deposited at the Palais Lascaris, a historic monument and labeled as a Museum of France. This municipal museum already houses rich collections of ancient musical instruments and is also the custodian of the Gaveau-Erard-Pleyel collection (known as the AXA Collection).
To commemorate the reception of the Tissier-Grandpierre collection, a hall in the Palais Lascaris will be dedicated to the memory of its founder, internationally renowned and adopted Niรงoise, and will bear her name. This deposit is granted free of charge for a period of five years.
This agreement is an enrichment of the cultural offering of the City of Nice. The harp collection of Gisรจle Tissier traces the history of the instrument from the 17th to the 19th century. This collection, known worldwide, will now be admired but also heard.
