The Outdoor Leisure Section of the CEDAC Group offers children aged 7 to 12 a “Nature School” every Wednesday during the school term.
As part of this “Nature School,” Wednesday, December 3, will be dedicated in the morning to meeting a forest ranger from the Massif de l’Estérel and in the afternoon to maintaining the Natural Forest Park of the Croix des Gardes.
Indeed, the children will take advantage of this day to spend some time cleaning the site of the Natural Forest Park of the Croix des Gardes in Cannes. This 80-hectare site, owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, stretches from Cannes to La Bocca. It provides walkers with a 360° view of the Bay of Cannes and is located less than a kilometer from the iconic Croisette.
Beyond collecting and cleaning, this operation mainly aims to raise awareness among everyone that waste thrown into nature one day will inevitably reappear at some point and can take many years to decompose. For instance, a cigarette butt has a lifespan of one to two years, while a plastic bottle lasts over 100 years.
Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on waste sorting. Garbage bags in different colors will be distributed to the children to educate them on the practice of selective sorting.
