On Monday evening, the President of the Republic announced the ban on all “events with a large audience until mid-July.”
Before making this decision, the organizers consulted all stakeholders, including the teams and local officials concerned with the passage of the Tour.
The Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, expressed his complete satisfaction with this announcement: “This will be a historic date for sport around the world and in France, a new beginning of sorts for major international events, a source of pride and a great responsibility for Nice to succeed in this exceptional event, and finally a great opportunity for economic revival for our region, especially for all those who contribute to its tourism dynamic and are currently going through a difficult period. This is part of a program to relaunch our events that we are working on, if health conditions allow it.”
