The economic observatory data conveyed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry indicates a positive situation, which is encouraging after the July 14, 2016 attack that could have resulted in a slowdown of the tourist flow with negative effects on the local economy.
This was not the case, and the figures, even if they are not exciting, are still positive.
The economic observatory data conveyed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry allows us today to compare the territoryโs tourism economy results between 2015 and 2016.
Between January 2016 and January 2017, the occupancy rate of hotels and residences increased by 0.4% for the city of Nice and by 1% for the Nice Cรดte dโAzur Metropolis.
The number of passengers at the Nice Cรดte dโAzur airport increased by 5.2% between January 2016 and January 2017.
Emergency measures had been implemented, such as the exemption from public domain occupation fees for businesses directly affected on the Promenade des Anglais; spreading out of fees for beach operators; and extending the payment deadlines for the tourist tax for hotel establishments.
They had the intended effect and supported the actions of economic players to overcome unfavorable circumstances.
One can only be pleased about it.
