Three months before its inauguration, scheduled before the end of the year, the train line section serving Nice-Cรดte dโ€™Azur Airport welcomed its first wagons yesterday.

The President of the Metropolis, Christian Estrosi, inaugurated the works on the north-south axis early yesterday morning and launched the first tests on this branch of the T2, with a rather positive result. The Nice tramway is expected to reach the airport by December 14th.

Christian Estrosi also indicated that “the connection between the two terminals will remain free”. Nice Airport should be 26 minutes away from the city center once the line is completed. According to estimates, nearly 15,000 travelers will reach Nice Airport by tram each day.

Nineteen trains will operate on line 2. Eight trains are currently available on the T2, as specified by the Mayor of Nice. “Six run between Magnan and the Cadam, the seventh is used for driver training, and the last one starts today with trials on the T1 โ€“ T2 connection”.

The Mayor of Nice also inaugurated the start of works on a new area in the Grand Arรฉnas. This business district will benefit from the tramway, a bus station, and the relocation of the Saint-Augustin station (connecting plane, train, tram, highway). The city of Nice hopes to attract 400 million in private investments and create 2,500 jobs thanks to the major changes planned for the Grand Arรฉnas.

Line 3, on the other hand, will connect the airport to Saint-Isidore before the end of 2019.
