The following organizations: SOS Homophobie, Mousse, and Stop Homophobie have filed a complaint against an unknown person following the transphobic attack on Julia in Paris on March 31st.

According to the report on homophobia published in 2018 by the association, transphobic acts (reported to SOS Homophobie) increased by 54% in 2017. They received a total of 186 testimonies.

The images were widely shared in the media and on social networks. On March 31st, as she was leaving the metro at Place de la République, Julia was confronted by several men present during a rally against the Algerian government. The video images showed the young woman being assaulted and insulted.

“Julia filed a complaint against an unknown person on April 2, 2019. STOP Homophobie, Mousse, and SOS Homophobie are filing complaints alongside her for transphobic violence in a group,” SOS Homophobie stated in a press release.

“It is unacceptable that today, in the heart of Paris, one can be harassed and attacked for their gender identity. We urge the prosecutor’s office to initiate proceedings and bring the perpetrators to justice,” commented Etienne Deshoulières, the associations’ lawyer.
