Following the opening of the black truffle season in the department on December 15, Le Rouret, the cradle of the truffle, once again hosts a unique authentic event on Sunday, January 12, in the village square.
This celebration is part of a long history between the municipality and the black truffle: For 18 years, Le Rouret, whose emblem is the oak tree, has hosted a vast parcel dedicated to truffle cultivation on its land.

All day long, a large local market welcomes you with many activities: The Brotherhood of Rabassiers du Rouret (the Provençal name for truffle growers) in ceremonial attire, farm animals, artistic and educational workshops, an Occitan troupe… all in a festive and friendly atmosphere.
To better understand this prestigious mushroom, you can walk on its land from 9 am to 11:30 am, with a visit to the experimental truffle plot in the woods (free shuttle from the church starting at 9 am, running every 20 minutes).
At 11:30 am, the truffle growers will demonstrate the talent and intuition of their truffle dogs in Place de la Libération. The truffle growers’ union, composed of passionate professionals, is tasked with revealing its secrets.
When lunchtime arrives, you will have the opportunity to eat without a reservation in the square (truffle scrambled eggs, pan-seared truffled foie gras, truffle pasta, truffle risotto, truffle polenta…), at the Maison du Terroir and in the village restaurants.
The afternoon will begin with a new demonstration of the truffle dogs at 2:30 pm.
Then, at 3:30 pm, a lecture on the truffle will teach you all its secrets in the new reception room of the Maison du Terroir. To end on a gastronomic note, Michelin-starred chef Daniel Ettlinger (Le Clos Saint-Pierre restaurant) will offer a tasting of a delicious truffled dish to delight your taste buds!
Note: on the same day, local artists will gather in the hall of the Maison du Terroir to present an exhibition of their works, from 9 am to 5 pm.
