This Sunday, July 10, the Ultra-trail Cรดte d’Azur Mercantour brought together hundreds of people in Saint-Martin-Vรฉsubie. It was an opportunity for the community, which was severely affected by Storm Alex, to reconnect with strong tourist activity at the beginning of summer.
Starting from Monaco on July 8, nearly 400 of these extreme runners first began by climbing towards the heights overlooking the principality in order to reach the Trophy of Augustus in La Turbie. At the end of this first stage, 250 runners, either solo or in relay, set out to reach places such as Sospel and the Col de Turini.
It was Benoรฎt Girondel who won the race in 17 hours 9 minutes, with a lead of over 1 hour on his competitors.
This 8th edition of the Ultra-trail is also a major event of the summer season for Saint-Martin-Vรฉsubie, where the effects of Storm Alex are still visible here and there.
This influx of people generates interesting economic benefits during this second weekend of July.
