The Ministry of Labor unveiled the unemployment figures for September 2017 this Tuesday.

The number of job seekers without any activity (category A) fell sharply in September in the metropolitan area: -64,800, thus dropping below the 3.5 million mark (to just over 3.475 million).

And what about the future? In its latest economic report, published in early October, INSEE predicts an increase in private-sector employment in the second half of the year, but it will be less dynamic than during the first six months of the year: +86,000 compared to +121,000.

However, the unemployment rate is expected to continue its decline, albeit at a very slow pace: 9.4% by the end of the year, which is 0.1% less compared to the second quarter.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, the number of unemployed has decreased by 1.2%.

At the end of September 2017, there were 70,440 category A unemployed registered with Pรดle Emploi, a decrease of 1.2% compared to the previous month.

It increased by 0.9% over three months and 1.3% over a year.

In the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis, however, the number of job seekers decreased by 1.2% over a month but increased by 0.9% over a year.
