Storm Alex has caused significant damage in the Alpes-Maritimes. The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis and the Unified Jewish Social Fund are joining forces to help the victims.
In the aftermath of storm Alex in the Alpes-Maritimes, acts of support for the victims have multiplied. A strong sense of solidarity has emerged throughout the region, and even across France. The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis continues to provide aid to the storm’s victims, along with the Unified Jewish Social Fund. The FSJU had decided to organize an online fundraising campaign. The proceeds from this fund have just been handed over to the metropolis during a ceremony held at the city hall.
Lionel Sebban, president of the Unified Jewish Social Fund, and Jérôme Culioli, president of the Southern Region of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France (CRIF), therefore presented a check for 23,500 euros to Christian Estrosi, president of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis. “It is important to help others from a social perspective,” explains Lionel Sebban. “Moreover, we know the history of Saint-Martin-Vésubie and all the past related to our community. During the war, the inhabitants helped us a lot, so it was only right to help them.”
Continuing to Help the Victims
Christian Estrosi expressed his gratitude for this donation. The president of the metropolis warmly praised the Jewish community: “When there are hardships, difficulties, poverty, they always step up to give to others, so I would like to sincerely thank them.” The proceeds will be allocated to the victims who have been seeking to rebuild since storm Alex hit last October.
“This donation will benefit families who are facing significant challenges in rebuilding, both logistically and materially. The metropolis is particularly involved in infrastructure and the economic sector,” explains Christian Estrosi. With this donation, the Jewish community once again demonstrates its solidarity. As a reminder, the hinterland of Nice was particularly affected by storm Alex, such as the Roya and Vésubie Valleys.
