**Christian Estrosi met with the Nice joint property ownership councils this Wednesday. Discussions focused on issues within the city. Parking and noise disturbances were recurring topics during the meeting.**
This Wednesday evening, over [300 joint property ownership councils](https://presseagence.fr/nice-rencontre-et-echanges-avec-les-representants-des-conseils-syndicaux-2/) were invited to discuss with the mayor of the city, Christian Estrosi, at the Mediterranean University Center. He was accompanied by some of his deputies, notably **Anthony Borrรฉ**, **Gaรซl Nofri**, and **Pierre-Paul Leonelli**. The director of the Nice municipal police was present to note the **various issues raised by the councils**. During his opening speech, Christian Estrosi expressed his desire for all topics to be discussed. Following this introduction, **nearly two hours of exchanges** took place.
The first topic addressed concerned the planned works on Rue Gioffredo. Questions arose about their duration and how traffic would be affected. The mayor of Nice took the time to address this question, reviewing all ongoing or upcoming works in the neighborhood. **The new police headquarters** is expected to be delivered around 2026. Once this project is completed, work on Rue Gioffredo up to the Hรดtel des Postes can commence. “It will be 50 meters by 50 meters […] for a duration of 12 to 14 months,” explained the mayor of the city. The goal of this approach is to **not sacrifice the revenue of local merchants** on the street and to ensure that emergency services can still operate smoothly.
**Parking, an issue in all neighborhoods**
Throughout the meeting, the most recurring problem was **parking** in all neighborhoods. Indeed, the different joint property ownership councils that spoke complained about this issue, regardless of their neighborhood (Riquier, Le Ray, Gambetta, Jean Bouin). The issue is due to double parking, which hinders traffic, as well as abusive parking practices. The **councils are demanding more strictness** from the city council on this issue.
Christian Estrosi and Anthony Borrรฉ both answered various questions on the subject. Regarding Avenue de l’Arbre Infรฉrieur (Jean Bouin neighborhood), the council criticizes **a car garage for using several free parking spaces** for its business. In response, the mayor of the city defended the situation. He recalled that a vote for paid parking had taken place, and the voters opposed this measure. A **new vote** is expected to be held by **end of 2025**.
Anthony Borrรฉ also defended the city council’s record on double parking on Rue Trachel, in the Gambetta neighborhood. The council criticizes **a lack of action on the issue**, despite numerous appeals since 2014. The first deputy refuted this accusation with some figures. A total of 1,485 fines have been issued since January 1, 2025, including **406 for double parking** on Rue Trachel.
**Noise disturbances and drug trafficking**
The second topic that regularly came up during this meeting was **noise disturbances**. For some, it’s the businesses that pose a problem, while for others it’s the hotels. An elderly lady complained about nocturnal noise disturbances from a night grocery store on Rue de la Californie. A business that is supposed to close at midnight but, according to her, continues to **cause noise disturbances at three in the morning**. In response to this testimony, Christian Estrosi reiterated **his opposition to these night grocery stores**, questioning their necessity. He assured that the municipal police will pay closer attention to this issue in the coming days.
Disturbances also caused by **the consumption of [drugs](https://www.nicepremium.fr/actualite/salubrite-drogues-la-rue-tiranty-ferme-jusquau-22-juillet/)**. Several neighborhoods (Riquier, Jean Bouin, Le Ray) have complained. This situation creates numerous troubles for residents. Christian Estrosi and Anthony Borrรฉ answered questions on the topic. The different locations affected by this issue have been **noted and directly forwarded to the director of the municipal police**. The first deputy added that the fight isn’t only against drugs but also against **nitrous oxide**. A substance that remains very accessible to individuals. The city council reiterated the strictness it desires for the sale of this product, with **a ban for individuals** from obtaining it.
**Rural guards arriving in Nice**
To combat these disturbances and reinforce security, the mayor of Nice announced **the recruitment of rural guards**. This decision initially surprised the entire assembly. Christian Estrosi explained this decision: “A rural guard has the status of a judicial police officer.” This decision seemed to **satisfy part of the councils**.
During this meeting, other topics were discussed: the greening of the faรงade of the Ray building, a non-compliant access ramp at a swimming pool, relay antennas near a school in North Nice. The city council assured that **all topics will be studied shortly** to find rapid solutions.
This community meeting took place calmly. A few people left before the end, **frustrated at not being able to ask their question**. Those who stayed until the end were pleased with the initiative of this assembly but mainly wish that **words turn into actions**.
