The Alchemist of Photography
All the works of Michel Fauquet are mainly created in the studio and involve different stages of conception and fabrication of the subject.
They are exhibited at the Charles Nรจgre Photography Museum (Place Pierre Gautier) in Nice until January 21, 2018.
Drawing, painting, sculpture, photography are as many techniques that give birth to the creation of these images.
This serves as a pretext to evoke within the visitors an elaboration, stemming from their own memory and imagination.
His way of perceiving light and shapes is very personal and his printing processes, as well as the use of paper or other particular supports, also make him an alchemist.
The treatment of these photographic prints gives them a unique character, and this production is entirely created by the artist through the stages of his creation.
His preliminary work on shape produces a set of models, sometimes exhibited, resembling architectural, vegetal, or anthropomorphic forms.
The exhibition, consisting of more than 150 works and objects, allows visitors to discover the talented world of this artist.
From the Paillon to the Loup: Sea Fortunes at Parc Phoenix
The creations of Michel Gouaud exhibited at Parc Phoenix until January 31 present his photographs, sculptures, and poetry, as he is a teacher from Nice, poet, and lyricist.
During these ten years spent on the islands, he discovered all the arts, from the great classics to those called “primitive”.
His creations are the natural reflection of these diverse influences.
His sculptures are made from reclaimed materials mainly collected on the shorelines he traverses and photographs.
His pieces, tinged with poetry and humor, often come in pairs or groups, as an ode to couples, families, and friendships. He adopts the same philosophy for his photos with various and unusual terms ” Art is conjugated in singular, not in series“.
