The upcoming July 14th will be a solemn day with initiatives in remembrance of the victims of the 2016 attack.

Its official nature will be highlighted by the presence of Emmanuel Macron, acting as President of the Republic, if the French elect him to this position tomorrow.


A program was unveiled by the City Hall after its development with the Angels of the Promenade committee, which includes the victims’ families.

The schedule is almost finalized today. It includes many highlights throughout the day:

From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.: The public will be invited to place colored plaques on the Promenade des Anglais near the Quai des Etats-Unis to form a giant message visible from the sky. It will be filmed by a drone and displayed on a giant screen at 8 p.m. This message, chosen by the families, is still kept secret.

At 10 a.m.: An interfaith ceremony will be held in the gardens of Villa Masséna at the invitation of Alpes Maritimes Fraternity.
A moment of reflection will be organized in front of a temporary memorial that will display the name, surname, age, and nationality of each of the 86 victims.

At 4 p.m.: If meanwhile elected President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron will be present at Place Masséna for an official speech.

At 6 p.m.: July 14th parade at Place Masséna, honoring the Municipal and National Police, Firefighters, the Red Cross, and Civil Security who responded on the evening of the attack.

At 9:30 p.m.: On the Promenade du Paillon, concert by the Philharmonic Orchestra with the choir of the Nice Opera, local choirs, and an artist chosen by the families. His name has not yet been disclosed.

At 10:55 p.m.: The families of the victims will be invited to the beach to release 86 lanterns into the sky.
