As we announced on Tuesday on our site, the UPE 06 and tourism professionals are united in their effort to maintain two CRTs in the PACA region. This Thursday morning, a press conference was held to emphasize how important it is to keep one CRT PACA in Marseille and another in Nice.

Yvon Grosso, president of UPE 06 (Union for Business of the Alpes-Maritimes), is very committed to ensuring that the Côte d’Azur retains its CRT. “The UPE is against this project to merge the two centers. Let’s be honest, in terms of tourism, the Côte d’Azur is more well-known than Marseille,” he states.

Michel Tschann, president of the Nice Côte d’Azur Hotel Union, echoes Yves Grosso. “The Côte d’Azur is a name known to everyone worldwide. For us, it is important to maintain this.” Michel Tschann also wanted to emphasize that the Côte d’Azur attracts 11 million tourists annually, whereas the other CRT PACA aims to reach 10 million tourists annually within five years.

The representatives of the merchants in support

In addition to tourism professionals, representatives of commerce support maintaining two separate CRTs. This is especially the case for Bernard Chaix, president of OCAN (Office of Commerce and Crafts of Nice), and Anne Lechaczynski, president of the Foreign Trade Advisors 06.

Anne Lechaczynski supports the preservation of the CRT Côte d’Azur. She, more than anyone, understands the need for two committees in the region. “Like the CRT, we have two branches. One in Marseille and one in Nice.” Anne Lechaczynski also highlighted the importance of tourism. “A lot of people depend on tourism. It’s not said often, but it’s an industry like any other,” she declared.

Solidarity is required

Whether they are professionals from tourism or commerce, they share a common view: maintain these two CRTs. According to all the participants, it is in everyone’s interest to have a CRT Côte d’Azur, distinct from that of Marseille.

Yvon Grosso closed the press conference with a few words that speak volumes: “UPE 06 and all its supporters will do everything possible to keep the CRT Côte d’Azur.”
