– As part of the 12th Energy, Climate, and Air Conference of local authorities, the urban community Nice Côte d’Azur received the CAP Cit’Ergie recognition.

– Sponsored by ADEME, the Cit’Ergie approach is the French version of the European label European Energy Award®, aimed at local authorities (municipalities and intermunicipalities) that wish to actively contribute to improving their sustainable energy policy in line with climate objectives.
Cit’Ergie is a “good practice” label that rewards the quality management process of the energy and climate policy of the community. Nearly 200 communities in Europe, and about a dozen in France, have obtained it to date, including Nice Côte d’Azur.

The CAP Cit’Ergie label awarded to NCA is recognition given to local authorities that have conducted the entire process without reaching the level of the label but are committed to achieving it within 4 years, thanks to the ambitious action plan decided by the community bureau on January 21st last.

Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, President of Nice Côte d’Azur:
“Cit’Ergie has created a real opportunity for our community to structure an ambitious energy-climate policy, relying on a continuous improvement process recognized at the European level and by the Covenant of Mayors.
The Cit’Ergie label is an innovative approach for a community with cross-cutting actions. It is also a European reference, fully compatible with our desire to position Nice Côte d’Azur as a major European territory (with our airport as the second largest entry point in France after Paris).
Cit’Ergie should allow us to affirm our energy exemplarity, made even more necessary due to the precariousness of the electrical supply of our department, and thus demonstrate our proactive policy in favor of sustainable development.”
