The vaccine pass, which requires proof of a complete or in-progress vaccination regimen to access a large portion of public places, will come into effect this Monday in France.
The implementation of the pass precedes by a few days the schedule for the lifting of restrictions announced on Thursday by the Prime Minister. These measures will be eased on Wednesday, February 2, and a more significant relaxation will occur on February 16.
At the same time, the number of new daily cases is reaching levels never seen since the start of the epidemic.
On Sunday evening, Public Health France reported 301,614 new cases over the past 24 hours. This brings the average to more than 360,000 new daily cases, a record since the beginning of the pandemic.
28,838 people who tested positive for Covid were hospitalized this Sunday. Although this number is still on the rise, the number of patients in critical care remains stable: it stands at 3,760.
