This Wednesday, August 9 at 8:30 PM, the City of Nice is organizing, in partnership with the Traditional Arts Collective “Lou Cat,” The Night of Folklore at the Verdure Theater.
Niรงois folklore will take center stage during this evening! This year, La Ciamada Nissarda, Lou Caire Niรงart, and Nice La Belle will share the stage. These Niรงois folk groups will rekindle, for one evening, the cultural soul of the Niรงois country! This Night of Folklore will also be an opportunity to showcase the culture of more distant lands. You will thus travel to Uruguay. It is the โCompaรฑia de tango Julio Sosaโ, created in 2018 in Las Piedras, that will be responsible for this journey to the heart of the Rรญo de la Plata basin. Dancers will proudly transport you through the popular dances, a true Uruguayan specialty. The cultural journey will continue to India. The folk ensemble โGuruโ, led by one of the greatest Indian choreographers, will be on stage for the occasion. Originating from the region of Gujarat, the choreographer drew inspiration from this cradle of Indian folk dances. The Night of Folklore promises to dazzle you!
This evening, with free admission, is intended as a preview of the international Niรงois folklore festival โLa Farandoleโ. This festival was created in 1935, making it one of the oldest festivals of its kind in Europe. It will be back for your great enjoyment in 2024!
