“These wishes will obviously have a political connotation” — these are the first words of Hervé Cael, the co-coordinator of the Radicals in Nice and in the department, before adding: “Democratic consultations are on the horizon: the ‘grand debate’ and the European elections in 2019, the municipal ones in 2020. The Radicals will take their full place in these.”
The cards are on the table…
Gathered Radicals
At a time when many political groups present their wishes along the lines of “I love you, neither do I,” I am pleased this evening to acknowledge around me in our office the Radical leaders who testify to our unity.
Gathering across the entire department from Théoule to Menton, obviously passing through Nice but also Antibes, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Cannes, Grasse, La Colle-sur-Loup, La Gaude, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Vence…
Gathering various paths of personalities from the PRG or the “Valoisiens,” as we used to say, but that was before, before the reunification of the Radicals.
Gathering generations with the “historical channel” of our movement and the succession embodied notably by our future leader of the Young Radicals.
Independent Radicals:
The Radical Movement is not dissolvable in another political group. Our political line is clear, it is one of independence. […] We wish for the success of the President of the Republic, as it means the success of France.
The “grand debate”:
Today we reaffirm that the time is for debate. The government proposes a “grand national debate” on substantial topics. We invite all citizens to participate actively. The time to assess and analyze this unprecedented exercise will come. But let’s not be grumpy smurfs sulking at their roundabouts.
Participatory democracy
Participatory democracy is in many cases like a Spanish inn. Before asking yourself “what will I find there?”, ask yourself “what can I bring to it?”
The European elections:
We must promote the idea of a list, not of LREM, MoDem, UDI, Radical… or any other political cliques, but a list “OF EUROPEANS” that gathers all those who share the same vision, the same ambition for Europe.
The municipal elections:
We will not remain mere spectators during these local events in March 2020. But if you are expecting a statement of support for any particular candidate, supposed or declared, you risk being very disappointed. We are not fond of joining fan clubs.
In each municipality, our position will take into account the outgoing officials’ record, the proposed projects, and the ability to gather skills and profiles that are representative and useful to the community.
