The daily report published by Public Health France on Sunday, August 30, was in line with the last few days. An additional 5,413 cases of contamination were diagnosed, and 4 hospital deaths were recorded, bringing the epidemic’s death toll in the country to 30,606. The rate of positive tests continues to rise: it is now 4.1% for the last seven days, compared to around 1% at the beginning of the summer.
France has this week crossed the “historic milestone” of 900,000 weekly Covid tests, said government spokesperson Gabriel Attal. The government’s goal is to reach one million tests per week “in the short term,” according to the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.
