This Sunday, the people of Nice will renew the vow of Nice in the presence of the mayor, Christian Estrosi, Monsignor André Marceau, Bishop of Nice, and Father François-Régis Jamain, Priest of the Saint Jean-Baptiste parish – Church of the Vow.
For a long time, people were helpless in the face of the scourge of epidemics. The last to leave a mark in the collective memory of the people of Nice was cholera, which threatened Nice in 1832 but was supposedly warded off by the combination of divine intercession and human medicine.
This fear left a magnificent reminder in stone, the Church of the Vow, and a tradition, the solemn procession.
