The Week of Taste in Nice: Teaching Children the Virtues of a Balanced Diet

Latest News

This week will be unique for Nice schoolchildren and toddlers from municipal nurseries who will have the honor of meeting great chefs who have excelled in their menus by showcasing the best products of our region. On the occasion of the 2013 edition of the Taste Week, Chef Ratatouille will hand over his kitchen to twelve top chefs and pastry chefs from the Côte d’Azur.

From Monday, October 14, to Friday, October 18, students from public schools and children welcomed in Nice’s early childhood facilities will be able to savor delicious dishes during lunch or snack time.

The chefs and pastry chefs invited by Chef Ratatouille will pull out all the stops to delight the tastebuds of the little Niçois.

At the table, the schoolchildren will be served “as in a restaurant” by the students of the Paul Augier Hotel and Tourism High School.

Nine chefs have created the lunch menus: Michel Devillers, David Faure, Alain Llorca, Sébastien Mahuet, José Orsini, Christian Plumail, Jacques Rolancy, Luc Salsedo, David Vacque.

Three pastry chefs have crafted the pastries and will prepare the snacks: Jean Michel Llorca, Serge Serain, Jean-Claude Canestrier.

Educational and fun activities will be offered to children during lunchtime to guide them in learning about taste.

The school catering service operates with over 3 million meals served each year in the 23 municipal nurseries, or approximately 23,000 meals served daily in Nice public schools via 100 restaurants and 1,500 meals and snacks adapted for young children.
