THE UNINHABITED ISLAND by Manuel GARCIA – New French creation
Salon Opera for 4 soloists and piano
On a libretto by Metastasio, which has already served the eponymous work by Joseph Haydn, the renowned tenor Manuel Garcia composed a chamber opera in 1831, a year before his passing, intended for his Parisian singing students. In the purest bel canto style, with colors reminiscent of Rossini, Bellini, or Mozart—he writes sumptuous bravura pages where vocal feats abound to best tell the story of two sisters deserted on a deserted island who despair of ever being found until one’s lover returns with his best friend. One will experience her first emotions, and the other will finally continue her romance broken by fate.
For the French recreation, the company “Auteuil Zéro 4 Virgule 7” has brought together a prestigious cast of young soloists trained in the finest French opera and music institutions who are currently enjoying a brilliant career.
