The Department has launched its first Côte d’Azur Garden Festival on the theme of “Awakening the Senses,” a unique and major event centered on gardens across the Alpes-Maritimes.
Open to landscapers, landscape companies, artists, designers, and architects, this festival sees 5 towns—Cannes, Menton, Grasse, Nice, and Antibes—each host 2 ephemeral gardens. 10 projects competed and 3 awards were given to recognize these original creations:
The “IN” Festival landscape creation competition prizes were awarded* during a ceremony held in the gardens of Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
The professional landscape jury award was given to the Scape Design agency for the “Mounta Cala” garden, located in the heart of Albert 1st Garden in Nice. Spanning along a wooden path amidst azure blue sails, this garden honors the Pointus, traditional boats so emblematic of our local culture.
The press jury award was attributed to the Nicolas Besse and Pauline Gillet Landscape Architects workshop for “The Banquet” set within the garden of the Villa Rothschild in Cannes. Marked by opulence, this garden immerses itself in a springtime feast, inviting sharing and discoveries in culinary, medicinal, and cosmetic realms.
The official jury award was allocated to the Collective les Olivettes for their creation “Secret Gardens” located within the Biovès Garden in Menton. This Mediterranean garden, a favorite of the press jury, offers gastronomes a burst of flowers, vegetables, and edible trees.
