Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, invited the representatives of Nice’s faith communities for a greeting ceremony and the presentation of the 2020 religious festival calendar.
Alpes-Maritimes Fraternity brings together all the representatives of the monotheistic and Buddhist faiths and the associations that advocate and participate in the city’s coexistence. It is a platform for dialogue that works for peace, freedom, and respect among people, regardless of their beliefs.
At the beginning of this administrative year, Christian Estrosi emphasized the objectives for 2020: fraternity, freedom of conscience, remembering tragedies to honor their memory, respect for others and their beliefs, and trust that allows exchange and dialogue for a common future.
He is also determined to fight against extremism, social isolation, fanaticism, violence, and intolerance so that faith communities can express themselves as they wish while enjoying freedom and equality.
The 2020 calendar, distributed in schools, will allow both young and old to learn about all the dates and festivals of different religions.
In this vein, the mayor emphasized that schools offer different menus for the cafeteria: โI refuse to impose a choice on a child raised with their beliefs,โ he stated as his motivation.
