The wishes of the League Against Cancer for 2017: seek to cure, prevent to protect, support to help

Latest News

A great cause, cancer, requires a great association, and the League Against Cancer is just that: the leading private funder of cancer research, it is an independent non-governmental organization relying on public generosity and the commitment of its activists.

With over 700,000 members and 13 regular volunteers, the League, founded in 1918, is a popular movement organized into a federation of 103 departmental Committees.

The headquarters of the Alpes-Maritimes Committee, located in Nice, has existed for 60 years and works on all fronts to defeat the disease. The Committee relies on a local network of over 60 volunteers and has more than 7,000 members.

Today, the League makes the fight against cancer a societal issue, bringing together as many healthcare, economic, social, and political actors as possible across all territories. By breaking taboos and fears, the League contributes to changing the image of cancer and those affected by it.

It is with this spirit of belonging that all friendsโ€”in various capacitiesโ€”of this association gathered at the Hard Rock Cafรฉ in a convivial atmosphere to review the mission of the association as is customary at the beginning of the year.

If the activity during 2016 was dense with initiatives and the results very satisfactory, the observation is that one never does enough, such are the needs that come to the League’s attention.

The opportunity also to thank some generous donors who took advantage of the occasion to give tangible support to their financial backing.
