The writer from Nice, Raoul Mille, passed away this Thursday morning after a long illness.

Raoul Mille was born in Paris and grew up in Pas-de-Calais. At the age of 16, he settled in the Nice region. He was a novelist, radio columnist, and journalist for the daily newspaper Nice Matin. His novel “Les Amants du paradis” received the Interallié Prize in 1987. Ten years later, “Le Paradis des tempêtes” won the Baie-des-Anges Prize. In June 2010, he co-authored “Le Roman de Napoléon III” with the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the annexation of the County of Nice to France.
He was also a member of the Nice City Council since 2008, responsible for culture with the title of Deputy Delegate for Culture, Literature, the Fight Against Illiteracy, and History.

Raoul Mille’s body will be displayed in the Salle des Pas Perdus of the Nice City Hall this Friday, all day, and Saturday morning.
