This literary prize, organized by the departmental media library of the Alpes-Maritimes, invites a jury composed of voluntary middle school students from 4th and 3rd grades to read a selection of young adult novels and award this literary prize at the end of the school year.

This year, 328 middle school students from 23 schools in the Alpes-Maritimes are participating in this competition. Since its inception, this prize has managed to involve no less than 44 schools, 5,800 students, 27 authors, and 192 selected novels.

Unlike previous years, and due to the health context, the closing of the 2021 prize did not take place in a single major event but in several sessions across the departmental territory within schools and libraries with limited attendance, in compliance with health measures.

It was therefore through the screening of a film composed of interviews with the five shortlisted authors that the students were able to discover the winner.

The President of the Departmental Council, Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, commented on the event: โ€œThe pen of these writers encourages the middle school students to read. I am proud that the community promotes reading among middle school students while providing valuable support to those who bring culture to life.โ€
