From Friday, August 5 to Sunday, August 7, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
A Creole village in the Albert 1st Gardens
Music, cuisine, spices, dance, jewelry, fashion, paintings—you will become fully acquainted with Creole culture and lifestyle. Organized by the Mediterranean Caribbean Circle, this 7th edition of the Creole Festival promises to be richer than ever.
Throughout the workshops and exhibitions, you can taste accra and samosas, learn Creole, get introduced to dances from the Antilles and Guyana, create your own exotic lucky charm jewelry, acquire the Creole look, discover the Caribbean laughter yoga…
The Creole Festival also promises unforgettable encounters, with host Maxette Olsson, for example, the Touloulous of Guyana, Guadeloupean artists Rony Théophile, Benzo, Karibana, and Kassica, fashion designers Josiane Boulangé and N’Djamena, Martiniquais bèlè player Edmond Mondésir, Creole flavor expert George Friederici, and many more!
Every evening, you have a date with Creole rhythms:
starting at 6:30 p.m.: parade on the Promenade des Anglais and the Nice pedestrian zone.
from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.: musical shows will take place at the Creole Village, with titles leaving little to the imagination but plenty to poetry and celebration: Friday “sa ké chofé,” Saturday “colé-séré,” and Sunday “difé-en-paille.”
