As part of its educational policy, the Department aimed to foster a constructive dynamic around citizenship by involving the youth of the Côte d’Azur.
Behind this initiative, the President of the Departmental Council, Eric Ciotti, explains the motivation: “Loss of reference points, the rise of violence and incivility, indoctrination of impressionable minds: faced with such drifts, the necessity to protect our children from the scourges threatening society has never seemed more imperative.
This implies passing on the historical and cultural heritage that defines our identity, giving renewed meaning to the foundations of ‘living together,’ and combating, through education and awareness, any form of hatred or rejection of others.”
Various actions targeted at middle school students will be implemented with the aim of strengthening existing measures in favor of the duty of remembrance and raising their awareness of the respect for republican values.
This plan will support the interdisciplinary teaching of Moral and Civic Education (MCE) and will also raise the educational community’s awareness about the scourge of youth radicalization and inform them about the action plan put in place by the Department.
The “Young Citizens 06” plan is structured around 3 main pillars that will be developed and then implemented through actions over a two-year period: the duty of remembrance, respect for republican values, and the fight against radicalization.
