– To celebrate the arrival of spring, the commune of Théoule-sur-mer
is organizing the fifth edition of “Théoule Art et Fleurs” which will be held
on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, 2011.
– This year, the commune is particularly proud to welcome our friends
from the Netherlands, who, thanks to the active participation of their Consul, Peter
Van Santen, will be the guests of honor: around 3000 tulips, Dutch cheese tasting, a
stand of a Dutch florist, presentation of about twenty posters on the history of Dutch flowers,
presentation of two films, one on a traditional flower parade, and the other on
the magnificent “Keukenhof” garden.
– This event takes place in the heart of the village with
expo-sales, stalls, and various activities on Place
Général Bertrand or at Villa La Paix, featuring activities organized by
OMAL, such as sewing, silk painting, and photography.
The flowers and plants presented by horticulturists and nurserymen are mostly locally produced. Visitors
will find everything they need to decorate
their balconies and gardens in all varieties of flowers and shrubs on the stalls of Place Général Bertrand,
with all the necessary advice provided for successful
planting and maintenance.
– As in the previous year, a regional flower arranging competition will be
organized in partnership with the Floral School of Cannes, held at
the Espace Culturel, avenue Charles Dahon. This year it will be themed
“A Dutch Ballad” highlighting
the “Queen Tulip.” Four categories have been planned: No. 1
“Windmill,” No. 2 “Along the canals,”
No. 3 “Tulipomania,” and No. 4 “The Netherlands as we eat it.”
