Three people from the French Riviera have taken on the challenge of being the first to surf on their e-foil under the Northern Lights in Norway. Nice Premium went to meet them to find out more about this crazy project.
The Thor Project
Between sensation, ride, and sharing, Aurélien Delahaye, Ruben Chiajese, and Marion Neveu are about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Named the Thor Project, its motto was not chosen at random “Because we can do it and no one has ever done it”, because indeed, in a few days, they will be the first to surf on their e-foil under the Northern Lights in Norway.
They will recount their adventure through 2 videos. The first will be a cinematic video that will retrace the Thor Project in 2/3 minutes. The second will focus on behind the scenes, capturing the moments of life and the journey’s adventures.
What is an e-foil?
It’s an electric surfboard with the unique ability to let us fly above the water.
The wing acts exactly like an airplane wing, once the device accelerates, the pressure of the water on the wing allows it to lift, causing the board to rise above the water.
The Team
Ruben Chiajese
Content creator and rider of the group, his thirst for freedom and immense creativity will drive the journey.
Aurélien Delahaye
Founder of the company Olympea Riviera, he is the initiator of the adventure.
Marion Neveu
Aurélien’s teammate ready to set out on the adventure, she is in charge of the project’s digital communication.
They will also be accompanied by the team of videographers composed of Flavian Couvreur, Toma Turion, Julian Guilabert, and Sébastien Botella.
The Birth of the Project
The idea was born from a moment between Ruben and his friend Aurélien while looking at photographs of the Northern Lights on Instagram. They mutually expressed their desire to go to Norway to witness this phenomenon with their own eyes.
Quickly, they built synergy around the project, got partners to believe in it as much as they did, and eventually obtained full financing. The total budget for the trip amounts to 12,000 euros, including accommodation, activities, food, fuel, and phone costs.
And so, a month later, they are ready to set off for Norway, specifically to Tromsø.
Discovering Tromsø
Tromsø is a city in Northern Norway, located in the county of Trøm, north of the Arctic Circle. It is one of the most popular places in the world to observe the Northern Lights.
However, this luminous phenomenon cannot be admired at every hour and place. Using local forecasts and apps, they will maximize their chances of being in the right place at the right time.
The Journey
It will take them 3 days to reach Tromsø, where they will stay for 1 week.
- Departure: November 18, 2022, at 9 am
- Stay in Tromsø: from November 21 to November 27, 2022
- Return to Nice: November 30, 2022
