“This is not a coat hanger”: a shocking campaign for the right to abortion

Latest News

Last night, the family planning center at 25 Rue d’Italie opened its doors for the International Day for the Right to Abortion. Dialogues, meetings, and testimonies took place to democratize this taboo subject.

National campaign, blood red. Hard-hitting slogan. Holding a hanger in hand. “This is not a hanger” is the new campaign by family planning to defend the right to abortion.

“A shocking campaign because even today too many women die following a backstreet abortion. Too many women in distress remain uninformed on this topic,” explains a volunteer, holding a hanger. Nearly 47,000 women lost their lives in 2014 worldwide due to backstreet abortions.

The family planning association of Nice supports this campaign by bringing together Claire Moracchini, the only employee and coordinator, along with her volunteers and anyone ready to listen… The goal is to engage in dialogue together around a table about this still difficult subject.

“Liberty, equality, and sexualities”… Three strong words chosen by this popular education association to explain this right to live one’s sexuality as desired, while respecting oneself and others.

Today, this association aims to inform as much as possible. Welcoming, listening to all people in distress, and going to middle and high schools to educate the younger generation are their absolute priorities.
