The medieval town is organizing its very first music festival this summer on July 5, 6, and 7. Two associations are behind this initiative, Entrevaux Cap Culture Évènements and Pépita Musiques et Cultures. The program was unveiled to us last Thursday during a day in the heart of this village with a remarkable heritage.
Nestled between the mountains, just an hour from Nice, the town of Entrevaux and its 900 inhabitants captivate the eyes. Built in the 12th century, the village was primarily a military stronghold, as it symbolized the border with the Kingdom of France until 1860. Passing through the royal gate via the drawbridge, one enters a place where stone still whispers legends and historical anecdotes, around the corner of a narrow street or near the old communal bread oven. If you thought you had discovered everything by wandering naively among the tall houses, you would be surprised to look up and see the citadel perched on the rocky spur. It is particularly famous thanks to its access path created by the great French architect Vauban. 800 meters long, with a 156-meter elevation, it takes almost half an hour to hope to climb the cliff and enjoy a breathtaking panorama.

For the first time in its history, Entrevaux is organizing its own jazz festival “Jazz Entrevoux,” turning its main square into a musical stage that can accommodate 500 people. On this occasion, and with the aim of facilitating the arrival of enthusiasts, a special festival train will be set up departing from Nice. The “Blue Train” will drop passengers at the Entrevaux station and return them after each concert to the Chemins de Fer de Provence station in Nice. In addition to the three main musical events, Jazz Sessions will be organized at the Town Hall, with Pascal Kober, author of “L’Abécédaire amoureux du jazz,” from 6 p.m. On the village square, Jazz Off will host the Latin Groove and G & G Jazz Band groups from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Jazz and photography
Jazz is not just about music, as proven by Pascal Kober in his book “L’Abécédaire amoureux du Jazz.” During the festival, the audience will be able to discover jazz through photographic portraits selected and commented on by Philippe Déjardin and the author himself. Each evening is dedicated to a series of letters of the alphabet:
July 5: from A as Africa to I as Intimacy
July 6: from J as Jam Sessions to R as Encounter
July 7: from S as Souvenirs to Z as Zoom

- Saturday, July 6 at 9 p.m.: Nina Papa Quartet, a singer of Brazilian origin who lives in the region and participates in numerous events. She will be accompanied by three musicians: Béatrice Alunni, Marc Peillon, and Cédric Le Donne.
Sunday, July 7 at 9 p.m.: André Ceccarelli, Eric Legini, and Thomas Bramerie, closing the festival. André Ceccarelli is the patron of “Jazz Entrevoux,” he is considered one of the best drummers currently performing.
