-Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 2:00 PM at the Social Reception and Emergency Center (CAUS) – Salon des Dames, 14 rue Jules Gilly – Nice
-The women welcomed at the Accommodation and Social Reintegration Center (Reception and Stabilization Unit for Women) often have very modest incomes. It became useful to allow mending or making clothes under advantageous conditions.
-In December 2010, the social workers of this structure and the women welcomed set up the project “de fils en aiguilles” (from threads to needles) which allows:
· To create a sewing workshop every Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM within the reception structure,
· To implement theoretical and practical activities,
· To economize: raw materials come from recovery and recycling,
· To foster their creativity and thus self-esteem.
-The sewing courses are supervised by social workers and the Sisters of Our Lady of Peace.
The Niçois Social Link Association was asked by the CCAS to provide a professional quality sewing machine.
The first “creations” will be exhibited during this friendly event in the presence of the women welcomed, members of the “Le Lien Social Niçois” Association, the Sisters of Our Lady of Peace, and the CCAS team.
-The association “Le Lien Social Niçois”
Created in 2004 and presided over by Mr. Jean Guillon, the association aims to:
· Develop social ties in the city of Nice,
· Improve intergenerational relationships,
· Promote all initiatives in favor of the well-being of the person welcomed or in difficulty.
-The association Notre Dame de la Paix
The Notre Dame de la Paix Association was created on May 21, 2002, with the arrival in Nice of the Missionary Sisters of the Charity of Christ.
The founder and current president of the association is Catherine Marquet.
An agreement signed between the association and the CCAS of Nice allows the sisters to carry out reception and permanence missions at the Social Emergency Reception Center and the Reception and Stabilization Unit for Women.
Accommodation and Social Reintegration Center – Reception and Stabilization Unit for Women
On the second floor of the Chanoine ROYAL Social Emergency Reception Center, a specific reception for women is offered, with accommodation in a double or single room, bathrooms, living room, dining room, and kitchen.
Eight places are thus offered to homeless women intending to interrupt a wandering path and engage in the beginning of an insertion process.
The educational and social support is provided by a team composed of a socio-educational assistant, coordinator of the structure, a specialized educator, a technician in social and family intervention, a reception agent, and night watchwomen.
