Three anti-pass protesters tried following disturbances

Latest News

During the anti-health pass and anti-vaccine protests against Covid-19 on Saturday, October 23, in Nice, three people were arrested. All three appeared in court for immediate trial on Monday.

Among the three individuals arrested, two were apprehended for violence against mobile gendarmes, and the last one for participating in the blockage of the fast lane.

Ivan, 28 years old, father of two children, was arrested on Saturday afternoon near the Nice Ville train station because he allegedly forced his way past the military blocking access to the Mathis route. He defends himself by claiming that he wanted to protect vulnerable people.

Florian, 31 years old, was also arrested for violence against mobile gendarmes and for “glorifying a war crime.” He was reportedly seen performing a Nazi salute in a photo. The accused defends himself by saying he was “singing the Marseillaise with his hand raised.”

Gilles, 59 years old, received a three-month suspended prison sentence for “obstructing vehicle traffic on public roads,” while the prosecution had requested four months.

Ivan and Florian will both be judged on November 26; the former will be placed under judicial supervision, while the latter will be detained to avoid “any risk of repetition.”
