The coronavirus epidemic did not prevent the flame-lighting ceremony in Olympia. However, its format was significantly reduced. The general rehearsal, the day before, was closed to the public.
The number of guests and accredited individuals was limited to the bare minimum. Finally, official receptions were simply canceled.
Once lit at the Olympia site, the flame will follow its traditional seven-day journey through Greece, before flying to Japan as planned.
