Toll: Same price for Nice-Antibes

Latest News

Highways are going to increase toll rates throughout France. This is indicated by the decrees of January 30, 2022, published in the official journal. These restrictions do not affect the one between Nice and Antibes.

An average increase of 2% across the entire national toll network. This was announced by the Ministry of Transport on December 3rd last year. These rates are calculated according to the estimates of highway concessionaires from the past year. They are, as every year, presented to the government at the beginning of December and then applied 2 months later.

This increase in rates is explained by two main factors: inflation and investments in highways. Since last summer, inflation has been experiencing strong growth. In 2021, it increased by an average of 1.8%. Concessionaires base their pricing on this index to determine the rates they intend to implement. In February 2021, it was 0.44% and 0.80% in 2020. Very low figures, and consequently, almost identical toll prices. These slight increases are explained by significant economic losses related to the coronavirus. With lighter restrictions and a resumption of active life, revenues have evolved significantly and consequently, so have tolls. It is also important to remember the investment made in the highways, which amounts to about 2 billion euros since 2014.

The Nice-Antibes toll avoids this price increase

Why do the toll rates between Nice and Antibes remain the same? The companies that own the highways in France are independent of each other. They can set their own prices, subject to the tariff law provided by the concession contracts. The company that manages the tolls in the Alpes-Maritimes, Vinci Autoroute, has decided to freeze certain toll rates. The goal is to favor home-to-work journeys. The company explained in a statement that most trips under 50 kilometers will not increase on their network.
