After this weekend’s playoffs, the 4 teams that will face off at the Allianz Riviera are now set.
The azure capital will become a rugby land for two days by hosting the Top 14 semi-finals at the Allianz Riviera.
The first of the two matches will take place on Friday, June 17. It will see Castres Olympique, the leader of the qualifying phase, face off against the winner of the previous edition, Stade Toulousain, who qualified after a narrow victory against La Rochelle in the quarter-finals (33-28).
The second semi-final will be played the following day. Montpellier (2nd) will face Union Bordeaux Bรจgles, who were victorious this Sunday against Racing Club 92 (36-16).
Last year, these major meetings were held in Lille. It is an event for Nice, which has never hosted a Top 14 semi-final in its history.
A few weeks ago, Mayor Christian Estrosi expressed his delight:
“Accustomed to hosting large-scale sporting events, the City will contribute to the success of this tournament, with its stadium perfectly suited for this type of event, but also with its expertise in terms of hospitality, accommodation, and transport… After the successful Euro in 2016 and the FIFA World Cup 2019, and with the prospect of the Rugby World Cup in 2023, it is a source of pride to see that Nice is now establishing itself among the essential sites for major events like this one.”
