Here are the statements from the French protagonists.
Stéphanie Loeuillette: “It’s a great competition and a great opportunity for me to play against girls of this ranking. Sojla is very solid, after that it might be a bit more open against Ekholm and Bilenko. By achieving great things, I have my chances.”
Simon Gauzy: “The draw is a bit similar to last year. I don’t have a positive record against either Ovtcharov, Monteiro, or Groth. I will have to be good, and right away.”
Emmanuel Lebesson: “We knew the draw would be complicated. I will start against Vladimir Samsonov, I will do my best against a player who will be close to the title. I believe in my chances. Physically, I am holding up well for now, and I hope that will be the case for the entire day tomorrow.”
