Grand opening night of the autumn cultural event, featuring the patron of this 13th edition, Nigel Kennedy, accompanied by the Nice Symphony Orchestra.
The new interpretation of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and the tribute he pays to his mentors and friends, Isaac Stern, Yehudi Menuhin, Stephane Grappelli, Jarek Smietana, and Mark OโConnor, made this evening one of the highlights of the 2017 edition.
An undisputed leader of this new generation of violinists who have opened the classical repertoire to jazz, world music, and rock, Nigel Kennedy, beyond being one of the greatest violinists of our century, managed to break free from the personality of a classical instrumentalist by adopting an on-stage presence worthy of rock stars.
Rock stars with whom he has developed numerous projects, including collaborations with The Who, Kate Bush, Led Zeppelin, and notably Robert Plant. He is also involved in charitable works to help the underprivileged live in better conditions.
